Klaas Rommelaere stelt op zijn expo Vlaggen/Flags de verzameling geborduurde vlaggen tentoon die hij tijdens zijn residentie in Het Bos creëerde. De voorbije maanden componeerde hij deze vlaggen met borduurwerk van zowel senioren uit Merksem, als minderjarige asielzoekers en doorsnee bezoekers van de Otark Breakfast Club. Rommelaere beschouwt een vlag als een beeldverhaal, als een manifest van een individu of groep. Een vlag toont waar mensen voor staan, wat hun idealen zijn.

Klaas Rommelaere studeerde in 2012 af aan de afdeling Mode in het Genste Kask. Voor zijn maskers, tapijten, vlaggen en installaties gebruikt hij traditionele technieken, handwerk, textiel en prints. Zijn stijl is kleurrijk en verrassend, met geometrische vormen en bizarre cartoonachtige elementen. Inspiratie haalt Rommelaere voornamelijk uit etnische kostuums, culturen en films.

Van 7 tot 10 december is Vlaggen/Flags te bekijken in Het Bos.

Met de jongeren van Stedelijk Lyceum Offerande, Stedelijk Lyceum Lamorniere en met de ouderen uit het Dienstencentrum Amate en de Zeelbaarn van Merksem.
